Reality Smashes the Silver Screen

The sun is setting fast
Sinking into the shimmering sea
Ariel shot from the crane cam
I rise above the city of angels
Soaring across an ocean bridge
Paved with my impulsive passions
My heart beats like an allegro in A minor
A complicated ever-changing meter
And time is running out.

Crash cut to my smoky eyes
Then angle wide
For once I’m the brave one
A hero on a quest to meet their
Heart’s destiny
The score rises up; majestic, hopeful
But the cellos are haunted
Foreshadowers of fate
The sun has set and I arrive
At empty stillness
Only a low, quiet chord
To mark the end
I fade to black.

But this isn’t a movie…
Reality smashes my silver screen.
